Katie Kemmerling
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and obtained my Masters’ degree from Northern Illinois University in 2006. I obtained my Bachelors’ degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 2003. I am a longtime member of the field’s professional association, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and am consistently eager to maintain relevant knowledge in psychotherapy.
I have worked in many settings, such as: non-profit, community mental health, hospital, and private practice. Over 13 years, I have developed a flexible and informal, yet sensitive and warm manner, which fosters a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic environment. My objective is to empower you to become the expert of your own experience and build on innate strengths to meet your needs.
I currently offer individual and family therapy to youth aged 13 and older, as well as adults of all ages. My areas of interest include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, self-injury and suicidal ideation, grief/loss, transitions throughout the lifespan, parent-child relational issues, and disruptive eating habits. I have a particular passion for working with folks on issues related to sexual orientation and gender diversity. I look forward to having the honor of working with you.
